A column of air, not a wash
A tower fan cools the room. This one cools you.
Point a normal fan at a desk and it lifts the paper, rattles the blind and dries your eyes out, because it is designed to move air across a whole room. This is built to sit about 40 cm from your face. A 165 mm ring outlet with a seven-blade turbine behind it pushes the air out as a narrow, directed column — so it goes where you aim it and nowhere else, and it can run slow enough to sleep beside.
90° of tilt
Up at your face, or down at your hands
The head swings through a full 90° vertically. From a desk that means straight up at your face; from a shelf above you it means angled down; on a kitchen counter it means aimed at the hob and not at the flame you are trying to keep lit.
Because the outlet is a ring rather than a wide grille, tilting it actually redirects the whole airflow instead of just spilling it in a new direction.

Get it off the desk entirely
There is a mounting slot moulded into the base and an adhesive hook in the box — no drilling, no bracket, nothing to patch when you move out. Stick the hook on a wall, the side of a shelf, a kitchen cabinet or the frame of a bunk bed and hang the fan off it.
The manufacturer rates the adhesive pad at around 10 kg, which is far more than a 632 g fan asks of it. Press it onto a clean, flat, non-porous surface and give it a few hours before you load it.
100 steps, not three
The setting you want is always between low and medium
That is the real complaint about small fans. Three settings, and the one you actually want sits in a gap between two of them. Here the speed steps through 1 to 100 one notch at a time, and the digital screen shows the number you landed on — so tomorrow night you can go straight back to it instead of hunting.
The motor is brushless and runs on a suspended bearing. Down in the low numbers it is quiet enough to leave running next to a bed. At 100 you will hear it, because that is what moving that much air sounds like.

Battery, or a cable?
This is the only decision. Everything else about the two is identical — same 100 speeds, same display, same 165 mm outlet, same tilt, same wall hook.

Battery built in. Runs unplugged.
Pick this if the fan is going to move — bed, then desk, then the kitchen counter, then a patio table or a tent. It is the only version that works where there is no socket.
USB plug — $34.95
No battery. Must stay connected to USB power.
Pick this if it will live in one place with a socket or a laptop within cable reach. It stops the moment you unplug it — there is no battery inside at all.
If it is staying in one spot, the USB version saves you $5 and there is nothing else to weigh up. Pay the extra only if you will actually carry it.
Two numbers we are not printing
No runtime, no decibel rating
Our supplier gives figures for both. We have not tested them ourselves, and we would rather leave a number off the page than print one we cannot stand behind.
What we can tell you is the shape of it: on the rechargeable version, runtime drops sharply as you move up the dial. A level you can sleep through will last many times longer than level 100. Anyone quoting you a single “up to X hours” figure is quoting level 1.

Before you buy
What it will not do
- It will not cool a room. It moves air; it does not lower air temperature. If the room is 32°C, the air hitting you is 32°C moving fast — which does feel cooler on skin, and is not the same thing as air conditioning. You will see fans in this category advertised as cooling the air. They do not.
- It does not oscillate on its own. The 90° movement is vertical tilt and you set it by hand. Nothing sweeps side to side.
- The USB plug version has no battery. Not a small one — none. It stops the instant the cable comes out.
- It is not weatherproof. A covered patio is fine. Rain is not, and neither is leaving it out overnight.

Questions people ask
How long does the battery last?
We are not going to give you a single number, because a single number would be measured at level 1 and would tell you nothing about how you will actually use it. Runtime falls off sharply as the dial goes up. If this is the deciding factor, email us and we will tell you what the supplier claims and be clear that we have not verified it.
Is it quiet enough to sleep with?
At the low end of the dial, yes — that is most of the reason to have 100 steps rather than three. At the top end it is a small turbine moving a lot of air and you will hear it. We have not measured a decibel figure and will not quote one.
Rechargeable or USB — which should I get?
Ask yourself one question: will it ever run somewhere without a socket? If yes, rechargeable. If no, the USB version is the same fan for $5 less. Nothing else differs between them.
Will the wall hook hold on any surface?
It needs clean, flat and non-porous — painted plaster, tile, glass, laminate, a cabinet door. It will not hold reliably on textured wallpaper, bare brick, raw wood or anything dusty. Clean the spot with alcohol first and leave it a few hours before hanging the fan.
Can I use it in the car?
It runs off any 5 V USB source, so a car socket works. It has no clip or mount for a vent or headrest though, so it needs a flat surface to stand on.
Does the display stay lit all night?
The screen shows the speed level while the fan is running. If a lit display in a dark bedroom bothers you, that is worth knowing before you order — ask us and we will confirm the current behaviour with the supplier rather than guess here.
How do I clean it?
Unplug it, then use a dry brush or a puff of compressed air through the ring to clear dust off the blades. Wipe the housing with a barely damp cloth. Do not run water into the outlet — the motor is directly behind it.
