Mince the garlic without touching the garlic
Six cloves, a board, a knife, and hands that smell like garlic until tomorrow. This does the same job with the heel of your hand — and the garlic lands in a cup instead of all over the board.
How it works
Press. That is the whole technique.
Drop a clove into the chamber, put your palm on the plunger and push. The blade turns as it travels down, so each press cuts in a different direction rather than mashing the same spot. Two or three presses gives you a coarse chop; keep going and it goes fine.
No cord, no batteries, no pull-cord to tangle. It works in a drawer-sized kitchen and it works during a power cut.
It catches what it cuts
The clear cup sits underneath, so the garlic collects in one place. Lift it off and tip it straight into the pan.
Three pieces, no corners
Plunger, blade unit, cup. It comes apart in your hands, which is the only reason a garlic tool ever actually gets cleaned.
Not only garlic
Onion and shallot, spring onion, fresh chili, ginger, carrot, peanuts. Anything you would otherwise mince by hand in small amounts.

This is a small-batch tool. It is built for the two cloves and half an onion a weeknight dinner needs, not for prepping a kilo of mirepoix — for that you want a food processor.

Living with it
How do I clean it?
Take the three pieces apart and rinse them under the tap straight after use, before the garlic dries on. We would hand-wash rather than put the blade unit and plastic cup through a dishwasher cycle.
Do I have to peel the garlic first?
Yes. Skins do not cut, they just wrap around the blade. Peel the clove, drop it in, press.
How fine does it actually go?
You control it with the number of presses. Two presses is a rough chop you can still see. Six or seven gets close to a paste. It is a chopper rather than a press, so you will not get the wet crushed pulp a squeeze-handle garlic press produces.
Will it handle hard food?
Soft and medium foods, cut small first — garlic, onion, chili, ginger, cooked carrot, peanuts. Do not use it on ice, frozen food or bone.
